#eye #eye

I live and work on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri (Woiwurrung) and Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nation. I acknowledge their unbreakable kinship and connection with land, waterways and community. I pay my respects to Elders past and present. The colonial project is ongoing and continues to disenfranchise First Nations people. I acknowledge my role as an active listener and comrade in truth-telling, organising and decolonising in solidarity with First Nations Peoples. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Sara Jajou works in the spaces between hospitality, art and community. With an Assyrian-Chaldean heritage, she is interested in the interplay between Sureth ( ܣܘܪܝܬܼ ) and Arabic (عَرَبِيّ) and moved by the capacity for translation and interpretation in building cross-cultural kinship and love. Sara creates alongside motions of language development, community care and love. Her outcomes include cooking and eating performances, industrial sculpture, video and creative writing. Inshallah, she wishes to foster communal harmony that can reconnect people to each other, land and spirituality beyond bounds of alienation.
